Daryl grew up in Wyandanch, being raised by his mother who worked as a secretary, and his father who was a bus driver. In the 1980s, Mitchell tried his hand at a hip hop career with Groove B. Chill. He then moved to acting, and made his first notable appearance in “House Party”, a comedy film starring the hip hop duo Kid ‘n Play. Daryl’s net worth started to increase when he also became a part of the “House Party 2” sequel, reprising his role. His next films included “Sgt. Bilko”, “Galaxy Quest” and “10 Things I Hate About You” – a romantic comedy film starring Heath Ledger as well as Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Mitchell also appeared in sitcoms, first getting known in “The John Larroquette Show” which ran from 1993 to 1996. He was then cast in another NBC show – “Veronica’s Closet” – which stars Kirstie Alley as Veronica “Ronnie” Chase, the head of a lingerie company. Daryl also made an appearance in “Becker” which is set in The Bronx, and appeared in “The Game” and “Desperate Housewives”, which both found popularity and commercial success, subsequently boosting his net worth somewhat.

In 2014, he was cast in a recurring role in “NCIS: New Orleans”, which he played computer specialist Patton Plane. He also appeared in “Life After”, the documentary program which followed celebrities lives after career turning point. All of these opportunities have helped in increasing his net worth.

In 2001, he was involved in a motorcycle accident which left him paralyzed from the waist down – he only woke up five days after the accident.
